Beaches of Kundapura
A golden coastline of sea, sand and river.
The Kundapura coast is one of the most scenic stretches of the Karnataka shoreline — a near-continuous ribbon of clean, golden sand where the Arabian Sea, the river mouths and the Western Ghats all crowd into the same view. Its beaches range from the famous to the gloriously empty.

Main article: Maravanthe Beach
Maravanthe is the coast's signature beach: National Highway 66 runs along a narrow strip with the Arabian Sea on one side and the Souparnika river on the other, the Kodachadri hills rising behind. It is among the most photographed coastal drives in India.
Kodi Beach
Kodi (Kodi Bengre) lies where the Panchagangavalli meets the sea, a slender spit of sand between river and ocean near Gangolli. It is a fine place to watch fishing boats and sunsets.
Gangolli and Trasi
Gangolli beach sits beside the busy fishing harbour and estuary, while Trasi, just south of Maravanthe, offers wide, quiet sands and casuarina groves popular for long evening walks.
Visiting the beaches
The beaches are at their best from October to February. Swimming can be dangerous during the monsoon and near river mouths due to strong currents; visitors should heed local advice. See the travel guide for access and timing.
